Translation fails
While the below examples are merely harmless translation/localisation fails that entertain us, mistranslations can actually have serious consequences. On a small scale, a company can convey the wrong message, and confuse or even offend its audience. On a larger scale, errors of translation or interpretation could cause history-changing decisions and acts; that's the subject of Mark Polizzotti's excellent article in The New York Times.
